10 DEFINITIONS 1. DEFINITIONS In your Policy, the following words have the meanings assigned to them: 1.1 “ ACCIDENT ” means an event caused solely by external, violent and visible means which occurs independently of other causes and which is an unlooked- for mishap which is not reasonably expected or designed; 1.2 “ ACCIDENTAL DEATH ” means death caused directly by or arising from or caused solely by external, violent, unforeseen and visible means due to an Accident and which death occurs independently of other causes and which is an accident which is not reasonably expected or designed; 1.3 “ ANNEXURE ” means the annexure to the Payment Book; 1.4 “ ASSURED LIFE ” means: • a Policyholder in Good Standing; or • a Dependant who predeceases a Policyholder in Good Standing; or • a Stillbirth by a Policyholder in Good Standing; or • a Paid-up Dependant; 1.5 “ BASE AMOUNT ” means the base amount specified in the Annexure under the heading PERSONAL ACCIDENT BENEFITS; 1.6 “ BENEFICIARY ” means a person who need not be a ZCC Botswana member, nominated by a Policyholder to receive payment of the Burial Benefit and the Thari ya Baruti Benefit, as the case may be, in the event that the Policyholder is deceased; 1.7 “ BENEFITS ” means Burial Benefit, Personal Accident Benefit and Thari ya Baruti Benefit provided in terms of the Policy; 1.8 “ BLIL ” means Botswana Life Insurance Limited, a company registered in Botswana with registration number CO1974/1644; 1.9 “ BURIAL BENEFIT ” means an amount payable by BLIL, as set out in the Annexure under the heading BURIAL BENEFITS; 1.10 “ CHURCH BRANCH ” means any ZCC Botswana church branch registered by the ZCC Head Office at Moria and to whom Receipts have been issued by Kganya Botswana; 1.11 “ CLAIM ” means a Burial Benefit Claim or a Personal Accident Benefit Claim;
