22 7.3 Claims Submissions BLIL will, from time to time, determine the documentation required and the basis for submitting Burial Benefit Claims. Any determination by BLIL will be set out in an amended Annexure and distributed to Policyholders via Church Branch Committee Members by Kganya Botswana. A Claim for a Burial Benefit must be made: • by a Policyholder or Beneficiary as the case may be; • within a period of 12 (twelve) Months after the Date of Death of an Assured Life; and • by submitting the documents specified in the Annexure under the heading BURIAL BENEFIT CLAIMS REQUIREMENTS to BLIL on the basis set out therein. No Claim shall be considered by BLIL unless and until these provisions have been fulfilled. The onus of proof shall be on the Policyholder or Beneficiary, that: • the Policyholder was a Policyholder in Good Standing; • a child is a Dependant of the Deceased Policyholder; • a child was a Dependant on the Date of Death of the Policyholder; • a person is the Beneficiary; • the death was an Accidental Death. Where more than one Claim is made, BLIL shall determine the Claim entitled to the Burial Benefit. 7.4 Claims Paymen t In the case of a Policyholder in Good Standing, and upon the death of an Assured Life, BLIL undertakes to pay a Burial Benefit to a Policyholder or Beneficiary. Any Burial Benefit payable will be paid on the date a Claim is admitted or approved by BLIL. 7.5 Alterations ZCC Botswana and BLIL will determine the Burial Benefit payable from time to time. The amount of the Burial Benefits will be set out in a revised Annexure and distributed by Kganya Botswana to Church Branch Committee Members for onward distribution to Policyholders.
