32 12. COOLING OFF 12.1 Eligibility A cooling off period is afforded to the following persons who no longer wish to continue as a Policyholder: • New Policyholders who have purchased a Payment Book and paid their first ever Premium and Contribution; and • Existing Policyholders where such persons have paid a Premium and Contribution after Kganya Botswana and BLIL have varied any terms and conditions contained in the Policy. 12.2 Duration The cooling off period lasts for 31 (thirty-one) days from the date: • of becoming a new Policyholder; or • an existing Policyholder became aware of the variation of the terms and conditions of the Policy. 12.3 Refunds During this cooling off period, Policyholders may cancel their Policies, in writing, and be entitled to a full refund of the cost of the Payment Book (new Policyholders only) and a pro-rata refund of any Premiums paid during this time. The pro- rata refund will be calculated based on the number of days the Policyholder enjoyed any cover afforded during the cooling off period prior to cancellation. Any applicable refunds will only be available to Policyholders where no Benefit has yet been claimed or where no insurable event has occurred. 12.4 Notification If a Policyholder wishes to exercise their right in terms of the cooling off period, Kganya Botswana must be informed within the applicable 31-day period. A Pukwana ya Kganya Cancellation Form must be completed and submitted together with all the necessary documentation to one of the offices of Kganya Botswana or BLIL.
