




All of the information presented below is provided for information purposes only. Members of KB should read the Pukwana ya Kganya Payment Book and Annexure very carefully in order to understand the terms and conditions relating to the various benefits and services offered by KB to its members. To become a policyholder, you must:
- be a member of ZCC;
- be 18 (eighteen) years of age or older;
- purchase a Payment Book; and
- pay an initial Contribution, evidenced by a receipt in your Payment Book.
A policyholder shall continue to be eligible for as long as such person remains a member in good standing of ZCC Botswana.
A policyholder must at all times pay the FULL contribution each month. Failure to do so may impact eligibility for benefits. The following Premiums and Contributions, as amended by ZCC Botswana and BLIL from time to time, are payable monthly by a Policyholder in respect of the Policy on or after 1 April 2024:
- Burial Benefit Risk Premiums: P55.00
- Personal Accident Risk Premium: P5.50
- Kganya Botswana Commission: P29.20
- ZCC Expenses: P29.30
- Retained by Collecting Church Branch: P1.00
TOTAL: P120.00
Payment Rules
After payment of the initial Premium and Contribution, a Policyholder will thereafter pay a Premium and Contribution each ensuing Month which Premium and Contribution:
- is due on the first day of each Month;
- must be paid on or before the last day of such Month;
- must be paid to a Church Branch Committee Member; and
- must be evidenced by a Receipt.
A Premium and Contribution will only be considered paid for purposes of this Policy if the Premium and Contribution was paid to a Church Branch Committee Member and is evidenced by a Receipt. The onus will be on the Policyholder to ensure that a Receipt is obtained.
A Policyholder will not pay more than two Premiums and Contributions in advance. The onus will be on the Policyholder to ensure that no more than two advance payments are made.
A Policyholder will never be required to and must never pay more than the amount specified on the Receipt, and the onus shall always be on the Policyholder to ensure that such amounts are paid.
The Date of Payment of a Premium and Contribution will be the date it was paid to a Church Branch Committee Member. The Date of Payment shall be deemed until the contrary is shown by the Policyholder, Beneficiary or Kganya Botswana to be the Sunday preceding the date on which the Premium and Contribution was deposited into the bank account of Kganya Botswana by the Church Branch Committee Members. The duplicate Receipt and the copy of the bank deposit slip will serve as evidence to determine the Date of Payment.
Payment Refunds
Once a Premium and Contribution have been paid by a Policyholder or third party on behalf of the Policyholder, such Premium and Contribution will, subject to Cooling Off rights afforded, not be refundable for any reason whatsoever including but not being limited to:
- the death of the Policyholder;
- the person not qualifying as a Policyholder;
- the Premium and Contribution being paid after the date of death of a Policyholder or the Assured Life;
- the Policyholder not being eligible or qualifying for any Benefit.
Alterations
ZCC Botswana and BLIL will determine the Premium payable from time to time in terms of the Master Policy and the Commencement Date thereof.
ZCC will determine the Contribution and the Commencement Date thereof. Kganya Botswana will give notice of each change to the Premium and Contribution by:
- giving written notice via Church Branch Committee Members of any changes and the Commencement Date;
- issuing Church Branch Committee Members with Receipts showing the total amount payable, which includes the new Premium and Contribution, which Receipts will be sold by Church Branch Committee Members from the Commencement Date; and
- issuing replacement Annexures for distribution to Policyholders.
ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS
Soon you will be able to pay your Pukwana ya Kganya contribution via an electronic payment solution via Botswana Life. It is an online payment facility that allows you to make easy monthly payments towards your Pukwana ya Kganya policy, directly from your bank account. It is safe to use, and rest assured that payments made will reach Kganya within 5 business days. It will also enable you to keep an adequate record of all your payments made.
The Basic Benefits offered as part of the Membership, consist of the following:
Firstly, access to the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract, being an insurance contract underwritten by Botswana Life, which provides the following insurance benefits in terms of policies of insurance:
- funeral benefits; and
- permanent disability benefits;
In terms of the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract, you are the policyholder entitled to the rights, obligations and insurance benefits in terms of the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract.
Secondly, as long as you pay your membership contributions to Kganya Botswana, Kganya Botswana will pay the premiums in terms of the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract to BLIL.
However, if you fail to pay the premium and contributions to Kganya Botswana, we will not pay the premiums to BLIL and your insurance cover and benefits in terms of the Pukwana ya Kganya Contract may terminate, be suspended or be impacted.
Lastly, this entitles you to a Basic Ancillary Benefits which consist of the Road side Assistance Benefit.
The following Burial Benefits, as amended by ZCC Botswana and BLIL from time to time, are provided to a Policyholder or nominated Beneficiary in respect of an Assured Life, if the date of death occurs on or after 1 April 2024:

A Stillbirth is the death of a foetus 28 (twenty-eight) weeks or longer after conception or immediately prior to or during delivery. Proof of parenthood will be required as well as confirmation of a gestation period of 28 weeks or longer. Burial Benefits are payable in respect of a Stillbirth.
Kganya Botswana and BLIL undertake to review the above Burial Benefits on regular intervals. Terms and conditions apply.
The following Personal Accident benefits, as amended by Kganya Botswana and BLIL from time to time, are provided to a Policyholder in respect of an Assured Life, if the date of disability occurs on or after 1 April 2024:

The amount of the Thari ya Baruti Benefit, as amended by ZCC Botswana and BLIL from time to time, will equal 50% of the Burial Benefit or Personal Accident Benefit paid where the date of death or date of disability occurs on or after 1 April 2024, respectively.
To assist Policyholders, Road Side Assistance Services have been arranged with Global Choices Lifestyle (Pty) Ltd where such Services are required on or after 1 April 2024.
Road side emergency services are limited to: R2 000 (incl. VAT) per incident
Town-in services are limited to: R3 000 (incl. VAT) per incident
Services
To assist Policyholders, Road Side Assistance Services have been arranged with Global Choices Lifestyle (Pty) Ltd in South Africa. Road Side Assistance Services will be available to Policyholders in Good Standing for their journeys, the sole purpose of which is the attendance of religious celebrations held at Zion City in South Africa during Easter, September and December of each year. Road Side Assistance Services are made available to Policyholders in Good Standing within the borders of South Africa only.
Policyholders will have access to the following services in the event of a roadside emergency in South Africa with respect to their motor vehicles:
- Flat battery – jump start;
- Flat tyre (help with change of tyre);
- Keys locked in vehicle (unlocking only);
- Fuel assistance (limited to fi ve litres per incident);
- Minor road side repairs (electrical, coil, immobilizer etc.);
- Transmission of urgent messages.
Policyholders will also have access to the following tow-in service to the nearest approved dealership (if under warranty), repair centre or panel beater in South Africa with respect to their motor vehicles in the event of:
- Mechanical breakdown.
- Electrical breakdown.
- Accident damage.
Qualification
To qualify for Road Side Assistance Services, a Policyholder must be in Good Standing:
- for the calendar month preceding the month in which road side assistance is required; or
- for the calendar month in which the road side assistance is required provided a Premium was paid prior to this date.
The Policyholder will be in Good Standing for a calendar month if they paid a Premium on or before the last day of that month.
Exclusions
The following exclusions apply:
- Road Side Assistance Services are only available to Policyholders within the borders of South Africa.
- Policyholders may only claim for Road Side Assistance Services for the period 7 days before, during and 7 days after each conference held at Zion City Moria in South African during Easter, September and December each year only.
- Motor vehicle means a motor vehicle that does not weigh more than 3 500kg.
- The cost of Road Side Assistance Services are limited to the amounts set out in the Annexure under the heading ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE SERVICES.
- Any costs over and above the limits above relating to the provision of the Road Side Assistance Services will be for the cost of the relevant Policyholder in Good Standing.
- Road Side Assistance Services are applicable to Policyholders only and not their Dependants or beneficiaries.
- Road Side Assistance Services are not provided by Kganya Botswana but by Global Choices Lifestyle (Pty) Ltd in terms of an agreement with the Policyholder.
Claims
No formal claim procedures are required. The Policyholder must contact the Kganya Helpline in South Africa on 0800 000 538 where an operator will determine whether he / she qualifies for Road Side Assistance Services and assist further.
The Road Side Assistance Services will only be made available to Policyholders in Good Standing in relation to a motor vehicle.
HOW DO I APPLY TO BECOME A POLICYHOLDER?
- You must approach a Church Official at your local Church branch and request A Payment Book.
- The Committee Member will provide you with a Payment Book against payment of P90, plus your initial contribution of P120.
- The Church Official will stick a receipt into your Payment Book in recognition of payment of your first contribution.
HOW DO I CLAIM?
- Phone Kganya Botswana on +267 319 0139 between 08h00 and 16h30 weekdays for any queries.
- Visit your local Church Branch Committee to get the relevant claim form. The claim form will differ depending on which Benefit is being claimed for.
- Visit a Kganya Service Centre (you can find the Kganya addresses on the Contact Me page or in the Annexure.
- Read the Summary Regulations contained in your Payment Book as well as the requirements stated on the claim form.
